Snippets from February, March and April

Here are my favorite highlights from the past few months!
Almost every week after church I make the kids get their picture taken in their church duds. My mom buys their clothes and hardly ever gets to see them all gussied up, so I take pics so she can see how they looked!
Hudson was very compliant that day. He must be getting used to the ritual!

Oliver was fine as long as he could do the Spidey pose!

Helping the kids with their Valentine's always makes me feel like such a grown up... It's something I remember doing vividly as a kid, and I can't believe it's me on the other end!
Anyway, I had to include a picture of this one because Oliver was cracking up that his "O" on his name looked like "ta-ta's". I laughed out loud when I heard that one!
Valentine's Day breakfast: Heart-shaped french toast. It was a hit!

The boys trying to keep themselves entertained on a freezing cold day.

One cold weekend in February, we decided to take an impromptu trip down to St. George to get out of the gloom. Our friends the Drake's were able to come with us on short notice. It was nice to get away. This day was beautiful, so we spent a lot of it outside. It felt soooo good to be in the sun! The next day rained like crazy so we took the kids bowling for the first time. They loved it!

My six month baby bump!

Since it wouldn't stop raining and my snow boots were starting to look dumb in April, I finally bought myself some wellies. Hudson thought he would take them for a spin too!

The boys got to spend the night with Grammy at "Gramen Helen's" house in Provo. They LOVE going down there with her. Gram is such a fun grandma... she does things like teaches them how to climb trees. We're so glad she's like that since their mother isn't so much!
Hud was completely at ease!

I love how terrified Oliver is.
I bet his little hands were sweating like crazy by the look on his face!

Oliver was on his way to school one morning and he looked too cute to pass up a photo-op! I can't believe I got a smile out of him. He always says "smiling's not my favorite."

Hudson had his first loose tooth! Well, teeth. A couple of months ago the boys were in the tub. They claim they were playing a game, but I'm not sure what happened. Next thing I know Oliver punched Hudson in the mouth and his two bottom teeth were bleeding and loose. After a couple of months they were hanging by a thread, so we were trying to get him to bite into an apple before school one morning. He was terrified! It didn't work, but that afternoon he was playing and it just fell out! He was thrilled it didn't bleed! He couldn't wait to put it under his pillow.
I was leaving for Sacramento the next day, so I was so relieved I didn't miss the first Tooth Fairy experience!
The next morning we heard his gasp with delight when he looked under his pillow. The Tooth Fairy had come and sprinkled silver starry glitter all around his pillow and left him a gigantic chocolate bar!
(Perfect for helping all of his other teeth to fall out)
His other tooth fell out when I was out of town, but thankfully "she" still came and left a fun toy under his pillow. "She" even remembered the sparkly glitter :)

The boys were SO excited to color Easter eggs. I bet you would have never guessed by the look on Hudson's face. He's hardly ever enthusiastic about anything!
(wink, wink)

Ollie spilled a cup of water in the process, and his little wet bum in his white unders was too cute not to capture. This has been quite a risque post full of bums and ta-tas...yikes!

The Easter Bunny caaaaaaame!!!! Oliver digging through his loot.
His basket was in the toy closet.

Hud 's basket was in the shower!

Steve's birthday also happened to fall on Easter this year. I think that's a first!
Anyway, we whipped some Eggs Benedict before church so he'd feel special too. It was de-lish!
I had to get some pictures of them in their Easter "suits" (as Ollie called his) before they got too wrinkled at church. Ollie picked his out and loved it so he was excited to pose.

Hudson picked his out too. He wanted a "neck tie" and belt "like Dad's."
Pardon his expression. He said it was too bright outside :)
And I almost didn't include this picture, but I had to. It makes me laugh out loud every time I see it. It's quite possibly the ugliest family picture ever taken. Ever. Hudson is at that phase where he doesn't know how to smile naturally for pictures. Steve looks darling--I'm so ticked because he's usually one of the worst offenders in pictures where the rest of us are looking cute, and then I can't order the dang picture. Family pictures of 2010 were quite the disappointment :). I look like the poster child for a Sono Bello ad. Go ahead...sing the theme song. Chubby knees and all. Some more self tanner was definitely in order. Oliver refused to stand any closer too us. I don't blame him--it is pretty embarrassing!

We had dinner at my aunt Holly's. I brought Steve's birthday cake for dessert and he blew out his candles with the boys. Happy Birthday to my cute 33 year old hubby. You are truly the best!

Christmas 2010

I know this is entirely past the point of caring for everyone else, but I have to stay on track for our family's history. So even though this was 5 months ago, here we go!

Hudson and Oliver's pre-school Christmas programs. I love seeing and hearing what they've been working on while they've been away from me!

Christmas Eve at the Rawlings'. We had a delicious dinner and the kids got to open their Christmas jams. Look at the thrill and delight on Oliver's face! Want to know what he said when he opened them?

"Yay!!! CLEAN JAMMIES!!!"

Note: he did not say new jammies.

This may or may not be an indication of how things were going at our house with me not feeling so hot.

Things may or may not have fallen apart for a while around here.

Hud and Gretel posing in their matching pj's. Hudson and Gretel are thick as thieves, and he loves her to death!

It has been Steve's and my tradition to open presents together on Christmas Eve after the kids have gone to bed. That way we can enjoy each other and then let it be all about the kids the next day. So after we were through opening presents, there was one left under the tree. Steve said "What's that one?" I feigned innocence and said "Oh! I totally forgot about this one. Open it and see!"

Unbeknownst to him (and anyone else for that matter) I had gone to Fetal Foto the day before to have an ultrasound to find out what we were having!!! When I got there I told them that I didn't want to know, that we were going to be surprised when we watched the DVD the next day. So I just turned my head to the side throughout the whole thing. It was torture! Then I came home and wrapped it up so I wouldn't be tempted to peek!

We popped it in the DVD player and I swear it took ages to get to the gender. I was thinking the whole time. Ya, ya there's the brain, there's the heart, I get it. Get to the good part!! Then there were three letters typed on the screen. I started to sweat. "Did that say boy? What did that say?!?" Steve said it said "arm". Oh. ok. Not that a boy wasn't ok. I would be fine if it was. Just fine. Then torture, torture, torture. Spine, legs, and finally...

I'm A GIRL!!

I might have screamed. I'm not sure. I might have cried. I can't remember. But this is what I looked like:

Could my smile get any cheesier? How embarrassing. But it's how I looked. Steve looks cute and normal, so that's what counts. I can't believe we're finally having a girl! I've waited my whole life for this. I Can't Wait!

The next morning...
A super-fast steam locomotive! How could Santa have known?

Big-Boy 2 wheel bikes! They're growing up so fast!

Of course no Christmas would be complete without Transformers costumes, would it?

Then we went over to Aunt Katherine and Uncle Buzie's for our traditional Aebleskiver breakfast and present opening. We love our cousins!

Finally we went over to Mimi and PopC's, but we have no pics to document...

Merry (very late) Christmas!
