Both little boys have been to the dentist now, and I thought it would be fun to journal about the differences in their visits. Hudson's first visit (one of many) was last January, 2009. His trip (being the High Maintenance Hudda that he is) was a little more involved than Ollie's. but we wouldn't expect anything else from our Hudman!
First, he had to touch the fake teeth.
First, he had to touch the fake teeth.
Next, he had to brush the fake teeth.
After finally agreeing to climb into the chair he had to continue exploring.
And he wouldn't be high maintenance unless he thought the light was too bright and asked for sunglasses, which surprisingly they had!
Finally! Opening his mouth just long enough to let the assistant count his teeth. No cleaning, no discovery of the 7 cavities they found 6 months later. Just lots of screaming, clamping his mouth shut, and lots of bribing from me to open his mouth for 10 seconds. Thank heaven I snapped the picture in time!
Update: A year later, and we just finished filling his last cavity and sealing all his baby teeth. (I promise we brush, floss and do mouthwash twice daily. The poor kid just got bum teeth). And he was a champ through all of it! He didn't have any Novocaine to numb those babies and he only complained about "the bumpy thing" (drill) every now and then.
Child #2: Olfie Dolfie
When he climbed up in the chair, he sat calmly while they put his "bib" on him. When I saw this face I asked him if he was excited or nervous? He said excited, but it looked like a nervous face to me!
Listening intently to the dental assistant explaining how things are going to go down.
Looking pretty excited about the whole thing....I think he's going to be ok with it!
Looking bored, as if he's done this a million times...
Flashing a smile in the middle of cleaning
Ta da!!
A clean slate! Whew....Easy peasy, lemon squeezie!
Good job, Olf!
