Hudson turned 5!
In keeping with his current obsession, we decided to have a robot party!
In preschool he got to be spotlighted with his "All About Me" poster. It's hard to tell from the picture, but it says he is 43" tall, weighs 38 lbs, and his favorite color is dark blue. His favorite things to do are play with Play-Doh, go to Bear Lake, make cakes and play with his pretend food in his kitchen. He drew a picture of his friends who are Sloane, Beckett, Jeanne and Dave. His favorite place to go is "The Party House". He drew a picture of his family, and if he could have one wish it would be an "Iron Man that turns into a car." 
He got to bring a birthday treat to his class, so we made these little robots out of candy to give to his friends. We also made these for an activity at his party. They were such a hit! 
This is his beloved robot cake we made for his party with his friends. We had to send him to Mimi and PopC's for a few hours to get him away from the excitement of it all so I could work on it in peace! (As mean as that sounds, unless you've had him flapping his little arms away-and gotten hit by them- you know what I mean.)
Here's the party table. Mimi found him the little robot. It has a red button on it that blinks and it is filled with robot stationery and stickers. The plates and napkins were all 3-D and there were little 3-D glasses to go with. 
The first things the kids did when they got there was build robots out of Lego's.

Next we played a robot matching game. It has quickly become a favorite around here, and I had to hide it recently. You can only play the same thing so many times, right??? 
After making their robots out of candy it was time for cake and ice cream! Everyone loved their 3-D glasses

The singing--and the flapping to go with it :) I just love the joy on his face! 
Opening presents--by far the highlight of the party! I think it was a success! Thank you everyone for the gifts! 
This was the morning of his actual birthday. I made him is favorite German Pancakes (or pop-eyed's as we call them). I think you need to have as many wishes as you can on your birthday, so I topped them with a candle. 
I was making cupcakes for his party with our families that night, but I ran out of an ingredient. I figured 5 was old enough to run down to the neighbor's house, so I bundled him up and off he ran. I wasn't expecting him to run down the middle of the street however, so good thing it's a really quiet neighborhood. What a big boy! 
Most everyone was able to make it, but we missed of few of you! 
His favorite present came from Teal--an Iron Man shooter thing and an arc light. So glad Teato knows him so well since I still can't get too excited about all the boy junk! I'm sure he loved his robot room decorations I got him just as much :) 
Here are the delish cupcakes: red velvet (filled with a chocolate chip cheesecake-y filling) and turquoise butter cream frosting. (To keep with the red & turquoise theme of course!) 
During the singing. He's getting to be such a shy guy lately! 
Make a wish, buddy! 
We love you!!!! Hudson at 5 years old: "From son up to son down...." *Wakes up every morning and doesn't have much of an appetite. He's a "continental breakfast" type of a kid. A little pastry, a little fruit and a little chocolate milk & he's good to go!
*Plays with toys every second of eating breakfast and getting ready. And pretty much throughout the entire day.It's one of our biggest fights. I'm constantly telling him to stay focused and just eat! Or just get his clothes on, or his teeth brushed, or his hair combed without playing with all his beloved dang toys! I swear he's going to work for a toy company one day, (if he's not a baker).
*Wants to know what we're going to be doing that day. "Where are we going after school? Do they have toys there? What are we going to do after we wake up?"
*Asking all day if we can go to someone else's house and play with their toys. Or go somewhere that has toys and rides.
*Oliver likes to talk. A lot. It kind of gets on Hudson's nerves, since he's a pretty quiet kid. The other day Oliver came to me and said: "Hudson says I'm buggin' him but I was just talkin'!" Classic! So Hud has figured out how to play with Ollie but keep him quiet at the same time. He makes Oliver pretend he is a dog or a cat, so he pretty much can only pant, bark or meow. It's a pretty ingenious idea actually, and sometimes it's my favorite thing they play.
*He eats a total of maybe 6 main courses that can either be served at lunch or dinner:
Pink cheese (strawberry cream cheese) sandwiches , hot dogs, grilled cheese, corn dogs, peanut butter or hangaburs. (hamburgers). He used to eat spaghetti until he got food poisoning at a restaurant, and salad until he got burned out. Lucky for us, he's lactose intolerant too, so that can be quite a challenge. At least he will eat almost any breakfast food, pastry, muffin, etc. Any and all fruit, tomatoes, and yogurt.
*He loves to be in the kitchen baking with me.
*He loves playing with his "best girl" Madi, and has recently started riding his bike by himself over to her house. *He loves hiding from Steve when he gets home from work and making him come look for him throughout the house. *He is very loving, affectionate, and compassionate. *His favorite time of day is when he can finally get in his jammies and snuggle. He loves to read at night, but usually gets too sleepy to finish his book and turns over in the middle of it to go to sleep. *Usually wakes up in the night just because he "wants to snuggle someone". He has done this since he was an infant straight home from the hospital. We finally got one of those co-sleepers that go inbetween us and he slept perfectly---as long as he was holding my finger. He's still the exact same way.
